Based on Elias Venezis's book "Number 31328", the film by Nikos Koundouros narrates, through the personal tragedy of three individuals, the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the martyr-like journey of the Greeks of Asia Minor who were arrested and led to death by Kemal's troops as well as armed Muslim groups. The wife of a merchant, a teacher, and a seventeen-year-old try to survive by following the column of prisoners deep into Asia Minor. The teacher is murdered by a Turk, the merchant's wife loses her mind, and only the young man manages to be saved. For diplomatic and political reasons, the screening of the film was forbidden until 1982.
